Sunset at Sunset Town

The drive south takes about forty minutes if you leave by four. We ask Tâm at the front desk to call a Grab — it’s easier than negotiating with the parking-lot drivers, and the price won’t change on the way back.

Sunset Town is built to look like a small Mediterranean village. It’s deliberately pretty, and that’s fine — go for the long boardwalk along the water, not the shops. Arrive an hour before sunset. Walk the boardwalk slowly. Find a stool at one of the open-air bars facing west and order a cold beer or a salt-coffee. The cable car to Hòn Thơm leaves from the same area, but skip it on a sunset trip — you’ll miss the view going up.

If you stay for the night market in An Thới afterwards, the squid grilled on charcoal at the second-to-last stall on the right is what we’d order. Ask for nước chấm sả ớt on the side.

We can arrange a car back to Luna for around 300,000 VND. Tell us the day before and we’ll keep it on hold.
